+ Chili Red + Flat White, 50/50
RGB average #E38F92
Physically accurate #F16D9A

We simulate real pigment physics: how paint absorbs and reflects light once mixed, to predict the shade you'll get. An RGB average, by contrast, treats color like light on a screen and gives a paler, duller result: here the same 50/50 mix comes out deeper and more vivid. Every recipe is then scored with ΔE2000, the scientific reference measure for color difference.

Paint mixer: get the recipe for any color

How it works
Choose your target color

Type a hex code, sample it straight from a photo, pick a real catalog shade, or reuse a color already saved in one of your palettes. It becomes the exact target the engine will try to reproduce.

Several ways to match it
  • Closest shade — the nearest single pot available from your supplier, used as-is, no mixing. Careful: depending on your target color, this shade can still be quite far from what you're after.
  • 2-paint mix — two catalog paints combined to get closer.
  • 3-paint mix — three paints combined, for the closest precision.
  • From my stock — the best shade or mix using only the paints you already own.

The small wheel above your results switches between these options, and shows several ranked proposals each time — never a single imposed answer.

A real mixing simulation

The engine simulates how paints actually behave once mixed, and explores a wide range of possible ratios for each combination, keeping only the recipes that truly get close to your color.

Ranked by real accuracy

Every result is scored with ΔE2000, the scientific reference measure for color difference — a gap under ΔE 3.0 is almost invisible to the eye. Browse several ranked proposals, from the most faithful to the simplest, and pick the one that suits you.

Mixing order & precision

Our mixing model (Mixbox) approximates how real paint behaves — precision varies with pigments and brands it's never directly measured. That's exactly why every recipe comes with a mixing order: lay the base tones down first, then dose the last paint gradually to fine-tune the result against your target.

How it works
Choose your paints

Pick two or three real paints straight from the active catalog — no invented colors here, only paints you could actually buy and mix.

Set your own ratios

Adjust each paint's share with a simple slider — the mix updates live with every move, always adding up to 100%.

How it works
Reading your selected palettes

Each color becomes a target to reproduce, using the references of the brand you're using.

Testing thousands of mixes

Thousands of mixes are tested for every target color, to find the best possible recipes.

Optimizing and pooling

Every best recipe found for each color is analyzed.

Paints you already own (your stock) are considered first.

An optimization pass then looks for the fewest references possible, keeping the maximum color gap under ΔE 3.0 (almost invisible to the eye) for every target color.

Result

An optimized paint list that can save you up to 8x fewer references, with the full recipe detail for each of your target colors.
